Instead of the model-driven campaigns we had previously run, for pre-spring 2020 we decided to instead focus on ZP clothing for real guys. Our marketing director came up with the Campaign/Initiative: ZP Role Models—Portraits of outstanding educators from the tri-state area. The winners were selected via a contest run on social media, and a portion of sales from the items in each outfit was sent to Donor’s Choose. We also invited Nicholas Ferroni, a well-known educator and ZP ambassador, to participate in the shoot with our winners.

As with many other businesses, the COVID shutdown made for a very challenging retail environment. Although we were able to shoot the first two of four deliveries for spring 2020 on figure, the uncertainty of the situation forced us to reconsider how best to proceed. Through the creative use of our available e-commerce assets we were still able to tell seasonally relevant product stories in our email and social channels. That, and a still life shoot by a photographer working in isolation kept us fairly well sustained with enough assets to make it to the fall sale season when images from years past could be repurposed.
